RSS Feeds

An RSS feed is an XML file format used for distributing articles in a machine-readable format. Programs called aggregators download RSS feeds, bringing all your news to a single point of access. This way, you spend less time browsing and more time reading. Nowadays, most blogs and news sites have RSS feeds.

In order to view RSS feeds, you'll need some sort of aggregator software. For windows, it seems that the favorite is FeedReader. For Linux, you've got Liferea, a FeedReader clone, or the wonderfully ncurses-based Snownews. For those who like reading feeds on the go (as I do), there are a number of web-based aggregators like Bloglines and Google Reader. Gregarius is a web-based aggregator that you can install on your own web site.

This blog uses the standard <link> tag mechanism to specify the RSS feed, so you can either put http://bytex64.net/blog/ into your favorite feed reader, or look for the feed icon () in your browser.
