I got my IIDX controller. It is SWEET.
Most girls list "Sense of humor" as one of the traits they look for in a man. But have you noticed how many of them don't like dead baby jokes? They should really put "Doesn't like dead baby jokes" before "Sense of humor" if that's how it's going to be.
One of my favorites:
Q: What's the difference between a 50-gallon drum full of bowling balls and a 50-gallon drum full of dead babies?
A: You can empty the 50-gallon drum full of dead babies with a pitchfork.
Oh, c'mon, ladies. It's funny.

*sigh*. It's just another one of those days, where you don't want to do anything. It probably doesn't help that I haven't been to work in a week (due to spring break) or that I can't seem to get enough sleep lately. Or that it was dismal, grey, and cold all last week, and now that school's back in session, it's bright and sunny.
Yeah, I'm at work. Over break my boss was testing a USB port, and he had it hooked up with the power lines backwards. He plugged in the USB key drive we usually use to test those, and "it got real hot". It also smells of magic smoke, so it must be dead.
In other news, check out WCDS. It's my new web chat application that uses the same XMLHttpRequest object that makes gmail so cool.

So today Yan and I went to the union to play some DDR. We wound up
meeting Jen and Kan Kan there, which kinda made my day, 'cause y'know, I
hadn't seen them all week. Yan had to go home, but I went with the girls
to go eat at Za's. Ok, this is getting long-winded. Long story short,
Greg took Jen, Kan Kan, Nancy, and me to GT's Western Bowl to play some
Pump it Up. I have been officially indoctrinated. Afterwards we saw
Robots, and ate at Steak 'n' Shake.
The whole night was really great for me, because I'd wanted to do
more or less exactly what we did. Except that I didn't plan it at all.
It was just this hapless little wish in the back of my mind, and somehow
it all came true. I wish that happened more often. :)

My sister called me today while I was walking around Target with Mike and Chrissy. The conversation went like this:
Andrea: Hey, what year is your car?
Me: It's an '87.
Andrea: Ah, ok. One of my friends wanted to know more about your car.
Me: Ah. You're not at work, are you? I'm at Target right now. (She works at Dots, which is right next-door to Target.)
Andrea: Hah, right. Yeah, I'm talking to one of my female friends and she just wants to know everything about your car.
Me: Hey, it could happen.
Andrea: No, it couldn't happen.
Me: Oh... *pouts*.
Another day, another shattered dream. :)

[travis] I know how you can become a billionaire. You just need
to come up with some sort of computer program that scans all
internet porn before you look at it, to see if it will screw
up your computer.
Indeed. The meat of the code would look like this:
bool isDangerousPornSite(string url) {
return TRUE;
}
I could sell it for $10 and make a fortune.

Ok, the other night I figured it wouldn't be that hard to be google-like with cool javascript enhancements. One of the things I'd wanted for posting was a live preview of the HTML I was inputting. So, after a bit of googling, I
did it. I think this only works with Mozilla/Firefox and IE5 and above. Maybe Safari, I'm not sure.

[nancy] but i gotta say: engineers are awesome
[me] Because we throw romance out the window and focus on hardcore
stuff like robots?
[nancy] yes
That's right. Engineers don't get caught up in emotional dramas. We don't have time. What would have happened if the guy who designed your car was more focused on the cute girl down in marketing than he was on your transmission? That's right, you'd be calling a tow truck right now.
Not that I'd trade places with some College of Business schmuck if I had the chance. I like engineering, I really do. I think that trying to make a machine or a program better is a part of me that I can't let go of. I just wish, y'know, that I'd get some respect from the ladies for it. :)
Later, Yan also brought up the good point that there aren't any girls in engineering to be interested in. Well, he's half right. You've heard the phrase, "All the good ones are taken"? Well, in engineering, all the good ones and most of the bad ones are taken. The rest are too busy working to notice that you're a member of the opposite sex. :)

So apparently Motion City Soundtrack is coming to the Courtyard Cafe. There are signs all over the union about it. I bet my sister doesn't even know about it, yet. (Oh snap!) I'm gonna get tickets if I can, these guys rock it hard.
So I got about four hours of sleep last night, and I woke up for my 9am class. I got about 10 groggy feet out the door and said, "Ok, I can't think, I haven't read any of the material for today, and I haven't done a reponse paper. Fuck this, I'm going back to bed." So I did, and slept through half of my second class. I went to the end of it to turn in my lab report (Oh, guess why I got four hours of sleep?). My next class was in half an hour, so I piddled around the union with Nancy for a bit. She went home, and I checked the website for my next class. I have a midterm in it on *checks website* March 1st. Wait. March 1st!? That's today! CRAP!
So I studied for about 10 minutes, and proceeded to do badly on my first midterm of the semester. (w00!) The rest of the day was pretty downhill from there. Yan continues to... Oh, wait. Can't talk about that. :)
